About WoW Fun Matrix
WoW Fun Matrix is a tier list for World of Warcraft: Midnight that ranks specs by how fun they are to play: how the buttons feel, how freely you move, how big the burst moments are, and how the rotation flows. It deliberately ignores damage meters. Plenty of sites tell you what is strongest; this one tries to answer the question players ask when they pick a main: which spec will I actually enjoy?
Who runs it
The site is an unofficial fan project made and run by Aris B. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment, Wowhead or Raider.IO.
In my own words
I'm a returning player. I've played on and off since the start, and I usually quit after a patch or two. I skipped The War Within. I lost interest in the endgame because I don't have the time for it. I'm middle-aged.
So the notes I write on spec pages come from how I actually play: leveling, questing, some dungeons. No raids, no high keys. Buffs are for fixing things that are broken... I just want to smash things.
Specs I've written about from my own play: Enhancement Shaman, Shadow Priest, Blood Death Knight.

How the ratings are made
- Tiers (S to C) come from a community research pass: Blizzard forum threads, editorial fun lists from Icy Veins and Wowhead, and play-rate data. A spec ranks higher when independent sources agree it is fun; popularity only breaks ties. Each spec page lists why people love it, why they quit it, and the sources.
- The 1 to 5 scores for kinetic feel, mobility and burst are set by hand. They are opinions, and the site says so.
- Player votes are optional ratings from people who play the spec. A player score appears next to the research tier once a spec has enough votes; it never replaces the tier.
- Patch changes are imported from the official patch notes as published on Wowhead, so every spec shows what the latest patch changed. When a patch changes a spec after it was rated, the card says so.
The full method, including what is automatic and what is hand-made, is on the home page under How we score fun.
Where the data comes from
News headlines, patch notes and guide statistics come from Wowhead, Mythic+ run data from Raider.IO, and spec icons from Wowhead's image server. World of Warcraft and its art are trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.
Ads and donations
The site shows ads and has a Ko-fi link to cover its costs. Neither ever changes a rating, and nobody can pay for a tier. What the site does with data is on the privacy page.
Think a rating is wrong?
Good: that is the point of a fun list. Vote on the spec's page, or get in touch with your reasons. Ratings are revisited when new research or a patch changes how a spec plays.
